DECEMBER Favorites 2014

December is almost over and we're now approaching the year of the sheep. I am still working out with my New Year's Resolutions which I think I'll also be blogging about, and I don't think I'm quite ready for 2015, with Fifty Shades of Grey The Movie. But anyway, here is my list of favorites for this month!

#1 Stupid is Forever by Sen. Miriam Defensor-Santiago
This is a compilation of quotes and excerpts from Sen, Miriam's speeches. I am actually not yet done reading it but it is really entertaining. I get a lot of pic-up lines I use for the boyfriend which normally fails because he also got his own copy and already knows about those pick-up lines. ٩(๑`^´๑)۶ We bought this book for an affordable price of Php175.00.

#2 The First Phone Call From Heaven by Mitch Albom
I have always wanted this book since the first time I saw this. I even included it in my Birthday Wishlist. Le boyfriend gave this to me as a Monthsary/Christmas/New Year gift. I literally kissed that guy when he gave me this. It even has a hard cover. <3 <3

#3 Dollywink Eyelash Fix
It's Dollywink. Do I even have to explain how awesome it is? Huehue. I got this yesterday at Ozine Fest for a very cheap price. I really want to have their pen liner by the way. (Just sayin')

#4 My Melody Ear Muffs
Another gift from my dear boyfriend. He knows how much sucker I am for My Melody stuffs. When I saw this in his bag, I grabbed it at once. "THIS IS MINE". -(๑☆‿ ☆#)ᕗ

#5 False Eyelashes Case
I was reading through Tony's blog when I saw this kawaii. I immediately asked her where to buy them and rushed to Daiso to get myself one. I have this habit of reusing my falsies and I often accidentally throw away their cases so the falsies end up it the thrash bin too. I need this so I could keep my falsies when I want to use them again.

#6 Sweater
My father gave me this sweater and I like it so much. I used it for my Sweater Weather photoshoot. Since we have a cool weather this month, I can wear this cutie anytime I want to.

#7 Pewdiepie!
I've been exploring YouTube quite a lot lately, but Pewdiepie is still my #1 favorite~! His real name is Felix Arvid Ulf Kjellberg which I don't even know how to correctly pronounce. I've had hard times this month and when I don't want to feel sad, I just go to his channel and watch his crazy videos. He never fails to make me laugh so hard. SUBSCRIBE AND BECOME A BRO TODAY.

This will be my last post for this year.'Will not be posting about Ozine Fest since I wasn't able to cosplay for so many friggin' reasons.

Happy new year, everyone! Start 2015 with a blast~!

Sweater Weather (´▽`ʃƪ)

*brrr* Snow!! (In my dreams)

As a fan of the Japanese Culture, I have always wanted to experience snow, the feel of snow in my hands, the freezing cold outside 'til I get hypothermia. Just kidding XD Since the Philippines is a Tropical Country, we only experience the so-called "Sweater Weather". A weather just a bit colder than the normal weather we have which is sunny and hot. It normally occurs in the months of September to February (?) where the northeast monsoon blows at us bringing the cold wind we feel.

Since it is the perfect time to wear the sweater my father gave me, and Ate Yanna of Perkee let me borrow her brown wig, I decided to have a mini photoshoot~!

I hope to experience snow someday. Leggo~!! XD

My Personal Legend

"To realize one's Personal Legend is a person's only obligation."

What is my Personal Legend?

That's the question I've been asking for a long time now. I always believed writing is my Personal Legend but I always get this feeling it is just too far to reach. Here I am now, working so hard to graduate to be a professional teacher and be able to teach in a public high school and help my family with our daily expenses. I don't have any complains. I'm actually happy with what I am doing now but I'm still feeling incomplete.

" What' the world's greatest lie?"

"It's this: that at a certain point in our lives, we lose control of what's happening to us, and our lives become controlled by fate. That's the world's greatest lie."

I chose this journey.

I used to say I was "a victim of no choice" since I had to take up this course. But maybe, I'm not really am. I realized if I didn't want to take this road I am taking now, I could have just said "NO" or just pursued a different degree.Everything that happens in your life has a purpose. Every person you meet has a mission. This might not be my Personal Legend, but this will be my mission.

My heart says continue the journey to my Personal Legend, and I will follow my heart. If my heart says it's writing, then writing it is.

Try reading The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. This is such a good read. I borrowed the book from one of my professors and finished it in less than a week. Very inspiring.

NOVEMBER Favorites 2014

This post is inspired by one of my favorite youtubers, Marzia Bisognin. She always vlogs about her month favorites and I thought that maybe I could blog mine. This is a bit late but I wanna post it anyway. :p

First up is this mini amplifier we got for 480php at Cd-r-king. It is a lot of help since it's tiring to speak loudl with all the noise inside and outside the classroom. This is very useful especially for those teachers who cannot speak loud enough for the students to hear. -(๑☆‿ ☆#)ᕗ

This brush set I ordered from Avon for only 99php. It also comes with a red pouch where you can organize them and neatly put them in your make-up kit. I usually use the blush-on brush and the eyebrow pencil brush. 'Never regret getting them. “ヽ(´▽`)ノ”

This kawaii chalkbox I already mentioned in my earlier post.I always carry this kawaii chalkbox in every class even my students like it. :゚。+━ヾ((○*´∀`*))ノ゙━+。゚

I have this new cinnamoroll pouch as my make-up kit. We got it for only 100php at Toy Network,

I really like it since it has a lot of pockets and my cosmetics fit perfectly. It is actually authentic Sanrio Product. It even has a tag when I bought it. Brand new~!

This inspirational notes which I mentioned also on my other post. Gives me a daily dose of inspiration everyday to keep on imparting knowledge to the youth. WOW.

This is currently my favorite free game app. Your goal in this game is to create as many floors as possible. As of now, I have only 36 floors. Who knows how many more floors I need to finish this game. It's free for Android and IOS.

So that sums up my November favorite. Ruby is here and it started raining now. Keep safe, everyone~!

A Week in the Life of Ma'am Kim (And Some Random Tips That Might Help Other Student Teachers Out There)

"What sculpture is to a block of marble, education is to a human soul." -J. Addison

It's my 3rd week of Student Teaching and to be honest, I'm kind of enjoying it. I don't feel that obligatory feeling of going to school when I have classes (as a student).  Maybe because I have a Cooperating Teacher who helps and guides me not just because it is her job, but also because she cares. It's not everyday that you find a teacher who has that genuine concern. :)

I guess I haven't shown you guys what my ST uniform looks like.

I like wearing this pair since it's quite comfortable unlike when you're wearing a skirt. Besides, you need to keep up with your students who often have alot of energy. But we also have another pair of uniform which has skirt so, yeah. ( TДT)'Need to wear those too. I get to wear this pair every Monday and Wednesday while the other one is worn every Tuesday and Thursday.

I had a box which was badly painted (since I painted that box when I was in elementary) (not that I think I could paint it better this time) which I thought would be perfect for a chalk box. So I asked my friend Tito Orly to have it painted for me since it's his forte. I trust his artistic ability more than mine. And I was right, it turned out to be really great! That Nora Valkyrie logo is just. Wow.

I know I've mentioned on my other post about us having a training inside the campus  and having Cooperating Teachers who are also our professors. Ma'am Rose, (my cooperating teacher in our in campus training) gave me this wonderful gift. I read one note a day. It is inspiring.

I need to record these quizzes and check my students' long quiz. I guess I need to burn the midnight oil once again just to finish this bunch of papers.

Teaching at a public high school is hard work. And when I say hard work, I mean HARD WORK. There were times during my first and second week when I thought I was going to black out because of fatigue or stress.

When you are a students teacher at a public high school I have some tips that may help you make your life a little less easier (but teaching is never easy):

Entering The Cosplay World

It all started one day when I went to SM Taytay and saw a poster about a cosplay event. That was way back 2012. I never really went to Cosplay/Anime Conventions since it was usually held at SM Megamall and I thought it was a bit too far for me to attend. But when I found out there was one near Antipolo, I decided to go. -(๑☆‿ ☆#)ᕗ

Blonde Dreams

I've started with my Student Teaching last Monday and I was assigned at San Roque National High School and I'm so blessed to have a very thoughtful Cooperating Teacher. That is also the reason why I am not able to write something new to blog. So for now, let me just showcase some portraits of me I took.

At times when I feel like being blonde, I put on my blonde wig, pop in my blue lenses, put on some make-up and smile for the camera.  ,。・:*:・゚’☆,。・:*:.

Stay Away From Me, Period. (Advice and Tips for your Monthly Period)

Got image here.
The days of the month when girls wish to be guys instead. The time when you're bleeding but you're not dying (Oh-kay, that didn't sound so good). You feel so uncomfortable and you feel like you want to punch someone in the face. It is also the time when women are at high risk of acquiring infection. And if you have a boyfriend, he'd be most likely the center of your peevishness. I know most girls could relate and their boyfriends would agree. Along with that distress and irritability, some girls experience the so called "Menstrual Cramps or Dysmenorrhea which make it harder to go through that three-to-four-days duration of your period.

Got image here.

Dysmenorrhea  is the pain usually felt on the lower abdomen or back for women having their monthly period. Pain in the hips, inner thighs and lower back can also be symptoms of menstrual cramps. They can be mild or severe. Some girl even black out because of severe pain due to menstrual cramps.
Got image here.

According to WebMD, to relieve menstrual cramps:
  • You can take aspirin or another pain reliever such as Tylenol (acetaminophen), Mortin (ibuprofen) or Aleve (naproxen).
  • If you are not fond of taking medicines, you can try a placing a heating pad or a hot water bottle on your lower back or abdomen. As for me, I put some efficascent oil (methyl salicylate camphor+menthol) on my back and lower abdomen which gives a hot sensation that lessens the pain I feel.
  • Contrary to popular beliefs, taking a warm bath may provide some relief and will not result to "craziness" which our elders commonly tell us.
Other tips from She Knows which can help us get through that nasty monthly period:

Hydrate
Staying fully hydrated helps eliminate the bloated sensation we feel before or during our monthly period.  Drinking enough water--at least two liters a day--will help speed up digestion and help prevent water retention caused by monthly hormonal change.

Reduce salt and caffeine
Yes, say goodbye for now to those processed and fast foods you usually eat, with their high salt composition, you'll be able to hold water retention at bay and minimize bloating. Nope, you can't drink too much coffee or anything with caffeine. It can irritate the stomach by increasing gastrointestinal acidity making cramps worse and adding to the discomfort.

Get enough calcium
Broccoli, yogurt, cabbage and milk--foods rich in calcium--will help fight muscle spasms and help you avoid cramps. We need at least 1,200 mg of calcium daily, which we can get through eating green and leafy vegetables such as spinach has the added advantage of an extra dose of vitamins that can help lighten the flow.

Add moderate exercise
I know it's hard and I also tried myself (hey, don't give me that look. believe me I did try.) Increasing the blood flow to your pelvic region will give quick relief from cramps . Take a walk or jog, swim or stretch, and it will reduce much of your distress of you monthly period.

Eat some chocolate
My favorite of all those tips! *munching on chocolates* Don't worry, this was actually ordered by the doctor, a daily munch of chocolate during your period. Chocolate stimulate the secretions of serotonin--which gives you a good feeling. The irritation, anxiety and mood swing you may be experiencing are mellowed away as the chocolate hits your system. Better look for high cacao leveled-chocolates... NOW~!

I want these kawaii neko body warmers~! Maybe if I had these, having menstrual cramps wouldn't be so bad. (❁´▽`❁)*✲゚* I saw them here.

Elyen supports United Nations Day Celebration

October 24, 2014

It's already semestral break for most universities in Antipolo City, but as for URS, it seemed like the word 'Sembreak' is not existing anymore. We are still busy getting our clearance signed and collecting class cards from our professors. Especially for the upcoming graduates who were still rendering 100 hours of service for their in-campus training.

But I still had time to spare.. ( +・`ー・´)

Unciano Colleges celebrated United Nations Day at their school and I was there to support my little cousin who was chosen to represent her section as Ms. Switzerland.  She was a bit nervous since it was her first time to join a contest but competitive enough to have the heart to raise her head high and show the audience what she's got. Sofia Margareth was crowned as Ms. U.N. for the Primary Level~!! We were so proud (o´・∀・`)

Pardon me for this bad shot. I was just so excited when they announced that she won~!

After being crowned as Ms. U.N. for the primary level...

Sofia with her partner Mr. Switzerland :)

These cuties were so cute I'm gonna die~~~!!! XD
The little kiddos from Kindergarten also wore National Costumes for the event.

Seeing these cuties made me want to wear a National Costume myself so I had to set up a "photoshoot" wearing Japan and China's National Costumes.

Check it out ---->  HERE
