Elyen supports United Nations Day Celebration

October 24, 2014

It's already semestral break for most universities in Antipolo City, but as for URS, it seemed like the word 'Sembreak' is not existing anymore. We are still busy getting our clearance signed and collecting class cards from our professors. Especially for the upcoming graduates who were still rendering 100 hours of service for their in-campus training.

But I still had time to spare.. ( +・`ー・´)

Unciano Colleges celebrated United Nations Day at their school and I was there to support my little cousin who was chosen to represent her section as Ms. Switzerland.  She was a bit nervous since it was her first time to join a contest but competitive enough to have the heart to raise her head high and show the audience what she's got. Sofia Margareth was crowned as Ms. U.N. for the Primary Level~!! We were so proud (o´・∀・`)

Pardon me for this bad shot. I was just so excited when they announced that she won~!

After being crowned as Ms. U.N. for the primary level...

Sofia with her partner Mr. Switzerland :)

These cuties were so cute I'm gonna die~~~!!! XD
The little kiddos from Kindergarten also wore National Costumes for the event.

Seeing these cuties made me want to wear a National Costume myself so I had to set up a "photoshoot" wearing Japan and China's National Costumes.

Check it out ---->  HERE

United Nations Day~!

After my little cousin was crowned as Ms. U.N. at her school, I suddenly missed participating in such events. Actually, I don't really remember having one during my high school days. (Or am I just too old to remember? XD)

So I decided to have a "photoshoot" wearing Japan and China's National Costumes. My cousin Renerie is my official photographer XD

Forgive me for the lame post processing. Newbie here.

Oh, and it's almost Halloween~! Hmm.. What costume should I wear for Halloween? :3

Narrative Report

“A teacher affects eternity.”
Being a teacher is not an easy profession, it involves a lot of patience and a bundle of dedication. On the other hand, being a good teacher is another story, it involves more than just dedication and knowledge, it involves experience. And it all starts from being a Student Teacher.
Before we get to be deployed to different schools in Antipolo, We were designated to different professors in the campus to get us ready for the real world which we will face outside the borders of our beloved alma mater. I was assigned to Ms. Rosalyn Dela Cruz, the ever reliable and knowledgeable Filipino professor along with my co-student teachers, Romilyn Mangaron, Julita Roncales, Gina Enildas, Jay-ar Veric, and of course the leader of our group, Rose Ann Principe.
For the first few weeks, Students Teachers who are able to comply with the requirement of having their thesis signed are the only ones allowed to start rendering service. And since our thesis then was still in the process of editing, I wasn’t able to render service. We needed to render 100 hours of service inside the campus. But when we were allowed to render service even without a signed thesis, I joined my co-student teachers in helping for the accreditation for BSE. There was a lot of paperworks to be finished and some of my co-student teachers (who were allowed by their parents, of course) had to stay over the night at school to finished the papers needed for accreditation. As for me, I wasn’t allowed to stay for the night so I stayed for as long as I was able to in helping my fellow student teachers.
Some problems we have encountered in helping for the accreditation was looking for some of the papers that was needed. Ma’am Rose was assigned to finish Area 4 which was about scholarship and retention. But since the teachers are helping each other to provide for the needed papers, it wasn’t that hard of a job.
After the accreditation, we started our practice teaching in each assigned subjects by our Cooperating teacher. I was assigned in a major subject, Filipino 23 or Pamahayagan. My cooperating teacher told me that since I had already took the Journalism subject the previous semester, which is one of our major subject, it would be easier for me to teach. She said that it is similar with what I had already studied but the difference is, I have to teach it in Fillipino.
To be honest, I actually had a hard time since my forte is English and I do not have any idea how to teach in Filipino. Even though I know what to teach, I didn’t know how to teach it. I didn’t know how to right a lesson plan in Filipino, and I didn’t even know what is the tagalog term for lesson plan. I had a hard time contemplating on how to present my lesson in Filipino, and how to present it in a way which would be formal.
So I started to research. I asked some Filipino major what a lesson plan is in tagalog and they told me it is called as Banghay Aralin. I asked for a copy of their lesson plan so I could have a guide in doing my own lesson plan. And Ma’am Rose was so supportive to explain to me how to make my own lesson plan, also in constructing exams for the subject.
My students were actually 4rth year Filipino Majors who are also my batch mates so I actually had doubts if I would be able to impress them in the way I teach. Since Filipino 23 is their major subject, I knew they expected a lot from me. But then I appreciate how they show support in the way I teach them. They comply to my requirements and assignment.
Another challenge I had to face was waking up so early in the morning. My class was 7 am in the morning and I had to wake up at 5 o’clock just to prepare for school. Given that it is so early in the morning, most of my students were always late. But I had to strictly follow the rules. At 7am I close the door so no more late comers are able to enter the classroom while I am teaching. There are time when we all feel sleepy since it is so early so I had to provide them with activities that would awaken their body and mind.

This has been a very fruitful experience for me and I have learned a lot. I am really looking forward on what awaits me outside, the real world of being a teacher. And I am sure to face it, head high and ready to face the challenges!

TIME WARS: The Resentment of the Brethren

The stories of all men were written in the stars.
Last weekend, me and my classmates were busy preparing for our stage play which was a final requirement for our three major subjects namely: Mythology and Folklore, Speech and Stage Arts and Stylistics. It was actually a bit of a rush but I think we did a great job~!

The script and story was written by yours truly, of course with the concept my classmates had thought of. ゚.:。+゚(●→‿ฺ←●)乂(๑→∀←๑)゚.:。+゚

Our play was entitled:

After the play, we had a photoshoot (Sort of) and obviously, my classmates where a fan of Retrica. So let me introduce to you, the casts of Time Wars....

Queen Era, the goddess of Time and the Queen of Ursacia. King Perio's better-half and a kind loving mother. Her hobbies? Watching time and eating with her sister Fooda.

Era was portrayed by my lovely friend Verna Pasking.

King Perio, the mighty ruler of Ursacia and the god of dimensions. He can control time and and space with his powers. He is a supportive father to his children, Tradea and Modernus.

Perio was portrayed by our witty classmate, Jerlyn Ramal.

Fooda, the goddess of food and happiness which is obvious, eh? She took care of Modernus' and Tradea's children when they are kidnapped by the evil Pessimea. Just like Era, she is a lover of food!

Our ever lovely Lyka Cabrera portrayed Fooda.

And Pessimea.... The goddess of negativity and hatred.... She stole Modernus' and Tradea's children and tricked the two siblings to fight. She was imprisoned by her siblings in the Forbidden Chamber until Tradea accidentally released her.

My gorgeous classmate Gelcel Sabado as Pessimea...

Modernus, Prince of Ursacia, son of King Perio and Queen Era. He is the master of modern technology and  can control gadgets through his mind (his name, from the word "MODERN"). A lover of innovation.

Modernus was portrayed by the only rose among the thorns in our class, Gerard Acebes.

Tradea has the power to control nature, she is fond of traditional things unlike her brother Modernus. A lover of nature. Mother of Flora.

The lovely Emmarie Paez portrayed Tradea.

Zion, the son of Modernus (he didn't know until the latter part of the play). An engineer and lover of innovation same as his father.

Don't ask me who played as Zion. I won't tell. Huehue.

Flora, a beautiful charming lady, who loves nature. She bacame a horticulturist and environmentalist. The daughter of Tradea.

Cute Novelyn Villaraza portrayed Flora.

Hida, the goddess of secrecy and silence. Pessimea asked for her help to hide her secret from the gods of Ursacia. But in the end, when Pessimea was defeated, she revealed Zion and Flora's true identity.

Julie Ann Parungao played as Hida.

Selfiusa, goddess of selfie. She was adopted by Modernus. She has the power of taking selfies with the use of her magical monopod.

The Selfie Queen was portrayed by Mary Ann Sorita.

Thinkerblue, our pretty narrator. She knows eveything that happens in the mortal world and in the Kingdom of Ursacia.

Our Thinkerblue is Charmie Rose Gadateo.

〜☻♡ ʕ•̫͡•ʔ❤ʕ•̫͡•ʔ

All in all, our stage play was a success, considering we prepared it for only two days XD It wasn't easy, but teamwork does magic! I will try to post our video on youtube :)

'Til our next performance~!

Mahal Ko O Mahal Ako by Kz Tandingan (Litera Parody)

Eventhough we're a bit busy with our school works, creating music video parodies has been our way of bonding. Our latest video was a parody on Kz Tandingan's song Mahal Ko o Mahal Ako.

I wasn't in the video because I was the Cameraman and at the same time, Director of the music video. I tried to edit the video on my computer and this is the result.

I hope you'll like it ^_^

Reasons why...

When you hear that word, what comes into your mind?

Does it make you feel sick? Do you feel pity? Or disgust, perhaps?

What do you think triggers a person to commit suicide? Is it depression? Self-pity? Hatred? Hopelessness?

Sometimes, I wish I was a bird... Soaring up high in the sky... Without anything to think of.. Just gliding freely...

And then flop. Fell into ground. Got ran over by a pick-up truck. Eaten by worms.
(Maybe that's not a good idea.)

Why am I blogging about this?

Recently, I've read a book entitled 13 Reason Why by Jay Asher. And I know a lot of you are familiar with this book since it's quite popular.
It is about a girl who committed suicide and sent recorded cassette tapes to 13 people whom she said are the reasons why she did it.

Suicide is a sensitive topic, yet it is something that needs to be talked about. A topic that everyone should be aware of. You might not know if it could be someone you know, someone close to you.. It could be your friend, your sister, your brother, it could be anyone....

Like a person with an illness, people who think of suicide show signs. From what I read from Jay Asher's book, one sign is when a person has a drastic change in appearance, commonly having a sudden hair cut. For me I think it's their way of silently asking for help. Maybe somehow, they want people to notice them and somehow be able to help them.

I figured maybe people who ended their own life didn't really wanted to do it.... at first. Maybe they were still hoping that somehow..... Just somehow.... Someone will reach out for them... Someone will try to help them get out of that pit of depression.. Someone who could be that knight in shining armor. Someone..... Anyone?

We should be aware of other people's feelings. Because somehow, we might not know that person is currently experiencing something we could not understand..

For those who feel weary and depressed, just remember God's message.
But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint. -Isaiah 40:31
